Being a competitive swimmer, I never used to think that I would have to worry about what I was eating - or how much for that matter.  I thought I could eat as much food as I wanted, since I was burning off so many calories in the pool.  Years of over-eating finally caught up to me my freshman year of college.  I hit my heaviest weight and hit a plateau in my times.  My coach confronted me and told me that he believed the two things were directly related.  I did not want to hear that my weight was hindering my performance, but it really was the truth.

I had been working out pretty hard on my own for about 3 years before I met Carrie Carmichael. However, I was stuck in a rut. I had extra weight I couldn't lose and was also stuck in my workouts. I didn't know what to do so I contacted Carrie. Since working out with her, I have lost 20 pounds and will be entering my first bodybuilding competition

Weight has been something I have struggled with throughout my life, as a child I experienced the teasing and taunting that typically come along with carrying around some extra weight. In high school I slimmed down naturally, I did not diet or really exercise, just got smaller; I was still one of the “biggest” of my friends. My mom had always told me it would happen, and it had.

Having the opportunity of playing college baseball when I was going through school I understood the basic principals of weight training. After college I lost sight of the importance of combining both stretching with functional movements and soon developed a lack of flexibility and poor posture.  I became aware of Crossfit from my wife telling me that I would really like it but I was convinced that I already knew how to work out and that wouldn't be for me.  Immediately during my first session with Stephen and Carrie I realized that I had been going about it all wrong and decided to take their challenge in hopes of seeing some positive results.  Their personal service and functional WOD's  "Workout of he day" have helped me to become stronger, faster, and more flexible than I have ever been.   I look forward to a new challenge everyday with Stephen and Carrie. It has become a way of life, not just a workout.
