Being a competitive swimmer, I never used to think that I would have to worry about what I was eating - or how much for that matter.  I thought I could eat as much food as I wanted, since I was burning off so many calories in the pool.  Years of over-eating finally caught up to me my freshman year of college.  I hit my heaviest weight and hit a plateau in my times.  My coach confronted me and told me that he believed the two things were directly related.  I did not want to hear that my weight was hindering my performance, but it really was the truth.

From then on I knew I had to lose weight, I just did not know how to do it.  I tried eating more of what I though were "healthy" foods.  Yet, I really did not see any difference on the scale, and I became discouraged.  I was then lead to seek out help from our athletic trainer, who supposedly specializes in sports nutrition.  I soaked up all of the advice I was given, and changed my eating to mimic what I was told.  Yet, I was advised to eat all the wrong types of foods in the wrong portions.  I was then forced to continue my journey all on my own again.  Months later I still could not get the results I wanted, so I decided hire a personal trainer.  Yet, I did not want any ordinary personal trainer.  I wanted someone very experienced who could whip me into shape and help me lose weight in a fairly short amount of time. (I only had about nine weeks of summer to train.) Upon meeting with Stephen I knew I had found the right place.

I wanted to be able to workout somewhere and not get bored, and here I got exactly what I was looking for.  Every workout that I did with Stephen was different.  He kept things fun and interesting.  On second thought, I do not really know if doing 50 squat jumps is really considered fun, but hey no pain no gain!  Of course he never pushed me too far.  He knew when to really make me work, or to take it easier on me because I was sore.  He also tailored everything we did to my skill level.  If I did not know how to do something, he made sure to explain it to me first.  This way I could hone in on the muscles I was supposed to be using in order to get the most out of my workouts. This really helped me take training to the next level.

When it came to the diet part, I knew it would be hard.  I really do love to eat pastas, breads. And desserts. Sure I would cheat every now and then, but after a while I really did not seem to miss them as much.  I realized that I liked to see the numbers on the scale go down more than a bowl of ice cream.  I really was amazed at how fast I could lose weight.  My parents even started eating like I did and they lost weight as well. The plan that they put you on really does work.  I lost around twenty-two pounds in that nine-week period. It was not easy, but if you follow it you will see results just like I did.

This whole experience really was revolutionary for me.  I cannot really believe how far I have come.  I now have confidence that I can go out on my own and continue to live a healthy life style.  If you are considering TBC Crossfit, you really should give them a call.  They really do have the nicest trainers and the best people.  Best of all they will get the results you want!
